§ 01Preamble

John Frank Harrington is a licensed attorney at the beginning of his career in law. This page is his own: a quiet, permanent address where he can be found, and where a letter will always reach him.

Plainly put: not a firm, not an advertisement. Just a name, a profession and a way to say hello.

“The life of the law has not been logic: it has been experience.”

§ 02The Road

From the stacks to the bar.

  1. Old leather-bound books behind glass in a warmly lit bookcase
    Stage 01

    The reading years

Every lawyer starts as a reader. Undergraduate study built the habit that matters most in this work: reading closely, and reading everything.

  2. Marble busts lining the dark shelves of a historic library
    Stage 02

    Law school

Three years of cases, doctrine and argument. First learning to think like a lawyer, and then, harder still, to write like one.

  3. A single desk lamp lighting a wooden desk late at night
    Stage 03

    The bar examination

Months of preparation at a lamp-lit desk: outlines, practice essays, timed questions. Then the examination itself.

  4. Stone steps rising between classical columns
    Stage 04

    Admission

Character and fitness review, the oath, and a license to practice law. The end of one road and the start of a longer one.

How Frank intends to work.

What is shared in confidence stays in confidence, without exception.

  3. Plain English

§ 05Questions

Questions, answered.

Is Frank taking on clients?

Not at the moment. If that changes, practice details and availability will be published on this page first.

Where is he licensed to practice?

Jurisdiction details will be listed here once confirmed. Until then, feel free to ask by email.

Does writing to Frank make me a client?

No. An attorney–client relationship exists only once it has been agreed in writing. Please don’t send confidential or time-sensitive information before then.

Can he give a quick opinion by email?

Not as legal advice. He’s glad to talk in general terms, or to point you toward the right kind of help.

What’s the best way to reach him?

Email, at frank@frankharrington.us. Every message is read personally.

§ 06In witness whereof
